Community Buy-in Will Help Tiny Homes Succeed, says Brantford Resident

Brantford resident Lisa Moore says tiny homes could be part of a viable solution to the housing crisis in the city, but it will take buy-in from the community and there will need to be regulations in place to make it work.

“In my dreams, I hope that everyone who (has) the space would volunteer to have a tiny home built to help someone else,” Lisa says.

Two Tiny-Home Prototypes Get Green Light

City staff have indicated they see no reason not to give a green light to plans for the construction of two tiny-home prototypes — a one-bed dwelling and a two-bed dwelling — on property secured in Brantford, a signal that the project to bring a tiny-home community to the city has advanced another step.

With this approval in place and land already secured in Brantford, participants of the Feb. 8 Tiny Homes Working Circle are now looking at ways to develop criteria to help determine candidates that would be the best match for the first phase in this tiny-home living initiative.
